About RMC
Ramaiah Medical College was established in the year 1979 with the vision of providing quality education to all. The college is well equipped with the latest infrastructure and advanced laboratories and continually focuses on providing quality education, patient care and creating a research ecosystem for creation and transfer of knowledge which is useful to the society. Ramaiah Medical College is a constituent college of Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences since August 2022.

ABOUT DEPT OF ANATOMY
Anatomy is one of the fundamental subjects for ensuring strong foundation in medical sciences. It consists of gross anatomy, histology, embryology, genetics and radiology. The department provides undergraduate as well as post graduate training.
The department has organized hands on workshop on basic pelvic anatomy and internal artery ligation and perineal anatomy, model making and newer embalming techniques.
Highlights of the Department:
- The department conducts various academic competitions like model making, histology drawing and dissection competitions for the undergraduate students. Prizes are distributed for the winners.
- The department is equipped with computer assisted learning and digitalized integrated museum to enhance the learning experience of students.
- Till date around 150 articles in various indexed journals have been published. The faculty regularly present scientific papers in regional / national / international conferences and have received best paper awards for their paper presentations in many national and state conferences.
- The department encourages Undergraduate student research projects in collaboration with clinical science subjects. By this the student develops research skills which is an important attribute of the Indian Medical Graduate. Some of these projects have been funded. The research projects have been presented in conferences and have been awarded best paper presentations on many occasions. They have been published in various indexed journals.
- The department also contributes to surgical skills lab by providing cadavers and expertise in conducting various procedural skills workshop.
- The faculty has established specialised embalming technique for cadaveric workshop.
- The faculty are regularly invited for guest lectures by various scientific organisations and societies.
- All faculty are life members in various State and National Anatomical Societies.
- The faculty hold positions of Reviewers / Editorial Board in various anatomy based journals.
- The faculty are involved in making plastinated and ceramic models, with some models being displayed in the Anatomy section of the museum. These models are utilised for teaching activities academically.
One of the unique offerings from the department is the voluntary body donation program that was started in the year 1998 and has grown well over a period of time. Currently more than 6000 voluntary donors have registered for the program. Abhinandana (Thanksgiving)programme is organized annually for voluntary body donors with health awareness guest lectures to mark the occasion. Annual Health Check-up is also organised for the registered donors free of cost in the Hospital.
